So last night, I went out clubbing with a bunch of friends for my friend’s birthday. One of the girls didn’t come because her pastor called to tell her that she shouldn’t go out today, because something bad was going to happen tonight. I’m not superstitious, but it put me a little on edge.
Anyways, the night was alright. Nothing really happened, we danced, had fun, and it was time to go. By this time, all worries were gone from our heads, and we were just ready to get home and get some sleep. 3 of my friends went separately in a car, and the rest of us took a cab. Now, my friend who’s birthday it was, was a bit drunk, so she was a little funny. We went back to her dorm to make sure she was alright, and then she got a call. By this time, she was sober again.
Apparently one of my friends was being taken to the hospital from the other car. We were told that he was side swept by a truck, and that he couldn’t walk or talk. I called all three of them. The one who was in the accident didn’t pick up, obviously, and the other two told me that they were taking him to the hospital and that they couldn’t talk right now. I was worried sick. I needed to make sure everyone else was okay. I was wondering what I would do if my friend died that night. I was thinking of ways to get to the hospital (which was pretty far from where I was) by ourselves at 3AM.
So, we sat in her dorm room for a good half hour. I was holding back tears, and I wasn’t the only one. We were so worried. Then, my friend got a call again. It was from the guy who was in the accident. She picked up and he was laughing, saying “I see the light… It’s getting closer”. She hung up on him. It was a prank. We all got a text later, saying “Don’t worry it was just a birthday prank!”.
Now I don’t know about anyone else, but I didn’t find that funny at all. Not one bit. I just don’t think anyone should joke about something like that. I’m so disappointed in these guys, and they were my very close friends too. What if something like that HAD actually happened? Would anyone be laughing then? They don’t understand my anger at them, and that makes even angrier. I don’t know. I’m very upset with them, and I don’t think I’ll be talking to them for a while.
